Just returned from Zurich, Switzerland. Traveled with a friend and we stayed in the apartment of friend of him who were out traveling. We left Gjøvik Saturday morning and arrived quite late in the evening after an intermediate stop in Frankfurt. The apartment was quite dirty, so we had to spend some time cleaning it up before we ate and went to bed.

A triathlon (IRONMAN) was held on Sunday, and we saw people cycling and running when walking in the "Quaianlagen" park. We walked and ended up in the center of the city and found the "Lindenhof" park where a lot of people were gathered to play chess and pétanque.

My traveling buddy had a few errands applying for a PhD, so I walked around on the west side of the river down to a park called "Rentenwiese". We visited the museum (Kunsthaus) on Tuesday, together with the park "Friedhof Fluntern" and "Zürichberg".

We had two trips to Uetliberg, a high point to the west of the city with a hotel, tower and a great view of the city. The first trip was on Wednesday and it was very foggy. We went up again on Friday in order to actually see the view.

1st of August is the national day of Switzerland and is celebrated with fireworks the night before. We took the train to Neuhausen am Rheinfall north of Zurich and took a buss to the waterfall. It was an amazing show free to the audience.

Friday and Saturday we relaxed in the "Rentenwiese" park and watched the street parade filling the streets dense packed with people so that one could barely move. Large moving trucks with music and dancing people circled the streets.
